Learn How to Crochet – Video Tutorial

If you’re new to crochet and want to learn, then you’ve come to the right place! I just made a video on my new YouTube channel that has everything you need to get started in the wonderful world of crochet!

Many of my awesome readers are already avid crocheters, since you’ve been following along with the crochet patterns I’ve been posting since I started my blog last August. But there are lots of folks out there who have seen cute crocheted things online and thought, “I want to do that!” This post is for you! And to my awesome readers who are already seasoned crocheters, it would mean a lot to me if you share this post with your friends so that it reaches any potential crocheters you may know!

Before you get started, you’ll need some yarn and a hook. I recommend medium weight yarn in a light color, like this Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in Beige that I found on Amazon HERE. As for a hook, you’ll want to stick with a hook that isn’t too small or too large – a G, H, or I hook would work great! I’ve always been a Boye crochet hook girl myself, (find one on Amazon HERE!) but any brand in those sizes will work.

I used to teach crochet at an arts and crafts store (can you believe that I’m actually a Certified Crochet Instructor with the Craft Yarn Council?! I have the certificate and everything!) and I’ve found that the best way to get started on crocheting is to have a visual aid that takes you step by step through each part of the process. That’s why I decided to put my camera to work and make a comprehensive “Learn to Crochet” video!

The video below will show you how to make the chain stitch, single crochet (foundation row and all rows after that), and it even has some helpful info on what kind of hook and yarn to choose when you’re just starting out.
