Make summertime even sweeter for the kiddo in your life with this adorable watermelon sun hat! Made using lightweight cotton yarn, it’s just right for the warm summer months! And the design makes the hat even more fun and unique to wear!

This hat is also available in a Teen/Adult size HERE! How much fun would it be to have a mommy and me (or grandma and me, or auntie and me) set of these Watermelon Sun Hats?! Crochet them both to make an adorable set!

(Pin it for later!)

This hat uses the same yarn that I used for my Watermelon Hat pattern for Adults, which is the very lovely 24/7 Cotton yarn by Lion Brand!  It’s perfect for making a summertime hat, since it’s cotton.  Also, it has a soft but sturdy texture, which is what helps give the hat such good shape. I used colors Rose (on Amazon HERE), White, (on Amazon HERE), and Grass (on Amazon HERE). The results were perfect and so watermelon-y!

I also think that the colorway “Red” in this yarn would be a super cute substitute to “Rose”, if you’re looking to make a more reddish colored watermelon instead of pink!

So if you’re ready to brighten up summertime for the little one in your life, then let’s get started on this summery sweet hat!!
