Brew up some fun this Halloween with this adorable Wicked Stripes Witch Hat! If you’re looking for costume ideas and want a fun, fast, and easy DIY, then this crochet pattern is for you. The pattern uses single crochet in a simple, repetitive pattern, so beginners and experienced crocheters alike can enjoy making this fun costume accessory! With both Kids and Adult sizes included, and so many options to color-customize, add embellishments, etc., this hat is just what you need to complete the costumes for all the witches in your life this year!

Wicked Stripes Witch Hat

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, then you might have seen my Candy Corn Witch Hat pattern from last Halloween. It combined two of my favorite Halloween icons! And I was pleasantly surprised at how much folks loved it! So this year, I knew I wanted to explore even more witch hat designs. They are so much fun, so easy, and just fun to wear! A classic Halloween stripe design seemed to be the natural next step, and I was so happy with the results!

A huge chunk of what makes this witch hat look as awesome as it does is the yarn used to make it! That’s right, just like last year’s Candy Corn Witch Hat, we will be using Lion Brand Hometown USA yarn again! (By the way, have you heard my story about how I won Lion Brand’s Hometown contest last year? Read all about it in my Capitol Couture Newsboy Hat Pattern HERE!)

Find Lion Brand Hometown USA in “Oakland Black” on Amazon HERE!

So how did you get them brim oh hat to not be floppy?? You didn’t use wire in end but you have nice points in it.

Hi Tana! That’s all thanks to the yarn and hook used. If your yarn is thick enough and your hook is small enough, the stitches will be small/stiff and not very floppy! It also helps to carefully count your rounds and use a stitch marker if you need to, so that all your increases are made on top of each other when making the brim. This helps add the “pointiness” to the peaks. Hope that helps! ~ Melissa
